Our society is incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of AAMSSA member, Dr. Reza Mia, who has co-authored a significant paper published in the Aesthetic Medicine Journal.
This study, titled “Systematic Review: Introduction to the Management of Intravascular Filler Injection, Including Support for Intra-Vascular Combination Management (IVCM)”, delves into the different approaches to managing one of the most serious risks in aesthetic medicine.
Key Highlights:
Background: The increasing popularity of dermal fillers comes with rare but severe risks, including blindness and death from inadvertent intravascular injections.
Aim: To explore existing treatments and propose a reliable, evidence-based protocol for preventing and managing intravascular complications.
Findings: The study introduces a comprehensive protocol that combines neurovascular management, thrombolytics, hyaluronidase, and mechanical thrombectomy to manage filler-related intravascular complications effectively.
Congratulations to Dr. Reza Mia and his co-authors Glynn Horton and Zandalee Venter for their contribution to enhancing safety in aesthetic medicine!
