📎 AAMSSA Case Insight

Dr Steve Harris (@drharrisaesthetics) recently shared this powerful image, and has kindly given AAMSSA permission to repost it.

📍 The photo demonstrates the impact of 4ml of chin filler placed over 4 years—and what happens two weeks after it was dissolved with hyaluronidase.

➡️ Slide to view the full image and its clinical implications.

🔍 What improved after dissolving:

✔️ Excess bulk reduced

✔️ Redness, swelling, and vascularity decreased

🔍 What remained:

⚠️ Skin stretching

⚠️ Textural changes

⚠️ Residual fibrotic plaques

These plaques are likely the result of chronic compression, overfilling, and superficial product placement, leading to fibrosis and tissue distortion.

đź’¬ This is a sobering reminder that overfilling may have long-term effects.

While hyaluronidase removes filler, tissue changes can persist.

📌 Chin fillers can enhance facial proportions—but your aesthetic doctor should be cautious with volume and placement. Injecting multiple syringes at once in this area can obstruct venous outflow, leading to congestion, inflammation, and the dreaded “pointy alien” look.

đź’ˇ Less is more. Respect anatomy. Prioritise long-term tissue health.
