The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) mandates that ALL medical practitioners must hold a formal qualification AND maintain active registration with the council to practice legally. Practicing without HPCSA registration is a CRIMINAL offense.
FOREIGN DOCTORS MUST BE HPCSA-REGISTERED BEFORE PRACTICING OR TRAINING IN SOUTH AFRICA! Any visiting doctor performing aesthetic injections and procedures or offering training must first register with the HPCSA.
Even if they are successful doctors in their home country, working without South African registration is ILLEGAL.
Beware of foreign and travelling doctors promoting “Russian Lips” and other trendy procedures on Instagram and Tik Tok.
Beware of non-registered doctors illegally importing unregulated products online from Korea and China.
These doctors CANNOT order SAHPRA-registered aesthetic injectables because only HPCSA-registered doctors with a valid MP number and practice number can do so. Instead, they order unregulated, potentially unsafe products online, putting patients at SERIOUS risk.
AAMSSA STANDS AGAINST ILLEGAL PRACTICE! Unregistered doctors lack accountability, do not follow South African medical laws, and put patients at risk of complications, including infections, vascular occlusion, necrosis, and blindness.
REPORT FRAUDULENT FOREIGN DOCTORS! If you suspect an unregistered doctor performing aesthetic procedures, report them immediately to the HPCSA or the AAMSSA office.
