📌If I could share one piece of advice with my younger self as an aesthetic doctor, it would be this:

Always practice discernment.

📌Every product, treatment, and training opportunity should be met with critical thinking and informed evaluation. Embrace every chance to learn—but never accept information at face value. Dig deeper. Ask the hard questions. Read the studies yourself. Understand the data beyond the marketing message.

📌As clinicians, we carry the ultimate responsibility for our patients’ outcomes. Industry partners, distributors, and reps can be incredibly helpful, and many invest significantly in education and science—but their goal is ultimately profit. That doesn’t invalidate the value of what they offer, but it does mean we must stay grounded in independent thought.

📌Aesthetic medicine is unique in that it often lacks formal specialist training pathways. This makes us especially vulnerable to being shaped by the very industry we depend on for education.

📌So what’s the solution?

Be a clinician and a scientist first.
Stay curious. Question everything. Continue studying. Share generously.

📌And yes, be an AAMSSA member. Together we raise the standard of our profession through collaboration, evidence-based practice, and independent thinking.
