Here are some tips to help your Botulinum Toxin last longer.

  •  50mg of Zinc daily can help increase the duration of your neurotoxins by 30%. This can give almost a full month more effect.
  • Don’t have “Baby Botox”. Low doses don’t last the full four months. The lower the dose the shorter the duration of action.
  • Duration of toxin is dependent on dose. So, get the recommended and appropriate dose for each area. Rather treat two areas well than three areas with lower doses.
  • If you’re concerned the recommended doses will make you look frozen, there are ways to inject the toxin to get a natural result. A skilled aesthetic doctor will have an in-depth understanding of muscular anatomy, and the antagonistic and synergistic mechanism of action of the muscle groups. This allows higher, more appropriate dosing, with very low risk for unwanted side effects.
  • Avoid getting frequent “top ups”. This increases your risk of developing neutralising antibodies which results in resistance.
  • Avoid anything that overstimulates your metabolism like diet pills, gym supplements, recreational drugs etc as these increase the rate at which the toxin is metabolised.
  • In summary: Higher dosage gives better and longer lasting results. This means less treatments per year, and less risk of developing tolerance/resistance.
